The first number one of 1981 is on our worst
tunes of the 80s list but following his murder in 1980
John Lennon provided the second and third number ones of the
year. By late Febuary 1981 the record buying public decided
it needed a laugh and denied Vienna the top spot to put anogher
of our worst tunes of the 80s in pole position. 1981 was a
good year for Shakin Stevens and Bucks Fizz sucured victory
for the UK at Eurovison with the cheesy classic making your
mind up. The Specials produced a number one which will always
get at least one play a year by any Halloween
party DJ. |
