We have all the latest R&B music from artistes like Flo
Rida, Usher, Estelle, Kanye West, Kelly Rowland, Chris Brown,
Snoop Dogg etc and are always buying more R&B music to
add to our collection. The phrase R&B music has been around
for decades but like all popular music its in a constant state
of evolution. It was in the early 90s when we became familiar
with today's R&B sound, and its popularity has increased
along with other Urban beats like Hip Hop and UK Garage. The
popularity of Garage was on the decline a bit but recently
its made a comeback. Old skool garage with new tunes from
acts like H two O and Bass hunter are once again floor filling
favourites.
If R&B music is working well at a party
then there's a good chance bashment will also be popular.
Bashment is very a fast dub style reggae and was originally
known as dancehall. Its crossed over well into the pop charts
and unlike Hip Hop, Bashment acts like Sean Paul can sometimes
even be played at a Wedding receptions. Our younger audiences
often love Hip Hop but we have to be careful, Hip Hop can
contain graphic lyrics and even when requested, we will
always avoid playing such tunes when young children are
around. Hip Hop is very popular at school discos, so if
its a must have tune we will try to get the radio edit.

Furtado, Lil Mama, Neo, Dizzie rascal, Chris Brown, Timberland,
Alicia Keys, Fergie, Rihanna, kanye west, Jlo, Lupe Fiasco,
Mary J Bliege, Akon, Estelle, Leona Lewis, 702, J-kwon, Beyonce
etc.....
Drum and Bass
An extension of jungle music
Drum and bass often has few lyrics, Not so strong on the
melody but a lovely deep bass bin will pump out the beat,
a good sound system is essential. Not as popular now as
it was a couple of years back but Drum and bass will clear
the cobwebs out of your ears and so is bound to make a return
to the charts.
Indie/ Rock DJ
Often its the case that people who like r&b
are not so keen on indie and rock, so if its a party with
mixed tastes like a school prom night it can be a bit tricky
to get the balance right. Music we can play includes tunes
from bands like Artic monkeys, killers, kaiser chiefs, Nickelback,
the Fratellis, Gym class heroes, Enter Shikari, Pendulum,
Foo fighters, The twang, My Chemical Romance, Baby Shambles,
Bowling for soup, Muse, Scouting for girls, the Hoosiers,
Wombats, Paramore, Evanesce etc.....
